What belongs in a Friday market news pulse
The sections we keep, the headlines we cut, and why a short note beats a weekend dump of links.
A useful Friday pulse is closer to a stage manager’s call sheet than to a newspaper. It tells you what is about to happen on your names—and what you can safely ignore until Monday.
Fixed spine
Every note we send on retainer follows the same spine: live catalysts for the week, slipped dates, stories we are shelving, and one open question per dense name. Familiar structure lowers reading cost.
Headlines that do not earn a line
Viral macro takes without a dated event attached rarely make the pulse. Local color pieces that do not change a filing timeline stay out unless the client asked for sentiment texture.
Length as a discipline
If the note cannot be read between a meeting and the next, it fails. We cut examples before we cut catalysts. When the week is heavy, we add a mid-week alert rather than fattening Friday’s page.
